CONCRETE TYPES
PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Bros. Co. has extensive experience making and delivering a wide variety of concrete products. From the common to the complex, we can handle your project needs.
STANDARD READY-MIXED CONCRETE
With strengths up to 5,000 psi, standard ready-mixed concrete is appropriate for most general needs and has been our biggest seller with millions upon millions of cubic yards delivered since 1927.
HIGH STRENGTH READY-MIXED CONCRETE
High Strength Concrete starts at 6,000 psi, and we have successfully produced 12,000 psi concrete for high-rise construction. We have even higher strengths undergoing research and development.
MASS CONCRETE
Successful construction of large concrete sections requires mix design skill, production capacity and careful coordination. We have demonstrated our expertise in all of these areas many times – including supplying concrete to the largest mat pour ever done in Oklahoma, with more than 6,400 cubic yards delivered in a single placement.
HIGH EARLY STRENGTH CONCRETE
Sometimes speed is the most crucial element, and PÕ¾ÊÓƵ can deliver on that with High Early Strength Concrete - which provides the needed strength level in a matter of days. That can really move your schedule along – perhaps even save the schedule! High Early Strength Concrete makes for fast form turnaround, quick loading of post-tension cables or even the early opening of a road – just to name a few benefits.
FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE
The use of fibers as reinforcement is not new. Fibers have been used to reinforce concrete products since ancient times. But the technology has advanced. We currently furnish three types of synthetic fibers as well as steel fibers for Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC). Small fibers at low dosages are generally used for the mitigation of plastic shrinkage cracking in concrete. Larger macro-synthetic or steel fibers provide concrete with toughness and post-crack load carrying capacity, and can be used as a replacement for rebar in some slab-on-grade applications.
SELF-CONSOLIDATING CONCRETE
Also known as Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC), this is an easy flowing, non-segregating concrete that spreads into place, fills form work and encapsulates even the most congested reinforcement with little or no mechanical vibration needed. SCC's unique properties give it significant economic, constructability, aesthetic and engineering advantages.
REDUCED SHRINKAGE / SHRINKAGE COMPENSATING CONCRETE
Concrete shrinkage can cause cracking, which in turn leads to durability problems. Two different technologies are available to combat this problem. Shrinking reducing admixtures treat the "cause" of drying shrinkage within the capillaries and pores of the cement paste. Shrinkage compensating materials create an expansive reaction within the cement paste to offset the "effects" of drying shrinkage. Both are effective.
FLOWABLE BACKFILL
Also known as "Liquid Soil," this product is delivered in a mixer truck and uses large amounts of sand, water and fly ash which flows into place, hardens, and becomes an excellent load-bearing material with no compaction necessary. Perfect for difficult backfill situations, applications can be utility trenches, bridge abutments, retaining wall backfill or any other application where the use of compaction equipment would be difficult.
PERVIOUS CONCRETE
When it rains, it drains! Pervious concrete uses little to no sand, creating voids that are typically 15-25% of the volume. Storm water goes through the porous pavement and seeps back into the ground instead of running off. This technology creates more efficient land use by eliminating the need for retention ponds or other storm water management projects and is recommended by the EPA as a best management practice.
ARCHITECTURAL / DECORATIVE CONCRETE
Concrete is one of the most widely used products in the world because it is surprisingly versatile. It can be shaped, textured, patterned and colored while still providing structural integrity. A little imagination combined with the strength, durability and versatility of concrete can turn this seemingly simple product into something beautiful and lasting.
